Is there any free/shareware anti-virus software that can safely replace Norton or McAfee?

2. i think u have to download AVG.7.1 from www.grisoft.com. i belive in that,u can even download the updates every week.

6. yes avg antivirus is free you go to www.grisoft.com and click on downloads and click on avg 7.0 it is free and it updates daily without you having to do it .. it works great I have had it for over a year and have had great results from it
7. avg from grisoft.com I have been using it for over a year and just downloaded to my new laptop. It updates automatically every day. I have used Norton and McAfee in the past and my results with AVG Free have been much better.
